Cobbler

Story time...

My sister walks into the craft/computer room and says "watcha doin?". I give a one word response as I am concentrating too hard at the sewing machine to say a complete sentence; "Cobbling". I got a pattern for these really cute mary janes and was trying to make them. See, we went to the mall earlier that afternoon and I picked up a skirt for Zoey to go with a shirt I got for $2 at Target last week. While at the Children's Place, we found a hat that matched too. It was too cute to leave on the shelf and Zoey doesn't mind wearing hats, which is nice because we love putting things on her head and taking pictures (refer to previous post with the wig). I guess the $2 shirt turned into a $20 outfit. Ooops! Not a bargain afterall. Anyways, the shoes were going to complete the outfit that I wanted her to wear to church the next day, so I needed to get them finished before I went to bed. Four hours and several chocolate chip cookies later, I finally finished (in the wee hours of the morning, might I add). I looked down at my masterpieces - for there were 2 of them - only to notice that I had sewed one of the straps onto the wrong side. It now appears from looking at the shoes, that they are both intended for the right foot. Stupid! I guess that's what happens when you are sewing at midnight. I was willing to work with the mistake and tell people that it was intended to be that way. I had it all planned out. The next morning, I was so excited to see how they looked on the chubby little feet. It felt like that scene in Disney's Cinderella when the ugly step sister is trying to shove her huge foot in the tiny glass slipper. It just wasn't going to happen. So... here is the pic of the shoes. Cobbled by yours truly.

Front Yard Photo Shoot

Today. Zoey and I had a little photo shoot in the front yard. I was just going to take pics of some monsters to put up on etsy, but I had to get Zoey in there too. The monsters will be up in the Etsy Shop today.

Friday Faves

Hey Friends! It's Friday again (well, it was Friday a few minutes ago) and you know what that means. Here are some of my faves!

1. These little apron dresses and bloomers from here. So very cute!

2. Lazy days at the town pool. I don't know why we don't go more often. It was fun and free. Even though I got a bad sunburn.

3. Rhett and Link videos. I get sucked in and can't stop watching their videos... here's one of my faves:

4. The new Cantina tacos from Taco Bell. It's not secret that I adore Taco Bell, and they have a winner in these new tacos. I know... they aren't authentic Mexican, but I live in New England. You want Italian food? This is the place, but Mexican... Taco Bell is pretty much it. Can't wait to visit the fam in Arizona so we can get real Mexican food.

And that's it for today! Bye!

Busy Busy

It's Thursday already?!?!!! Where did the week go? Here's where it went so far:

1. At my Aunts, helping her clean for company.
2. Making cookies. These cookies to be exact. A friend asked me to make them for her sister that was having a stressful day. They were very yummy. And I got this cute tin from Michael's craft store. It was on sale to boot... only $2! I'm going to go back and get more tomorrow.

3. Crafting some gifts for a friend that just had a baby. I'll post pics after we send them. They might read this blog, and I don't want to ruin the surprise.
4. Trying to get my house clean. And failing.
5. I went and visited my Gramma this week. It was nice to see her. It's been a while.

And that's about it. Oh, and Zoey's diaper exploded tonight. There was poop everywhere, including all over me. So nasty.

More to come tomorrow!

Pea Pesto

I made a yummy dinner the other night and thought I would share the recipe. I was craving something with peas (I attribute that to the episode of Top Chef that I watched with the pea puree drama). Anyways... Here it is:

1 small bag frozen petite peas
1 lemon, zested and juiced
olive oil
salt
pepper
1/4 fresh Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
fresh pasta

Steam the peas until tender. Transfer to food processor and blend the crap out of it with a drizzle of olive oil. I didn't measure but it was probably about 3 tablespoons. Add salt, pepper, lemon zest and juice, basil and parmesan. Blend some more. Cook pasta according to directions on the package, saving some of the cooking water. After draining the pasta, put it back in the pot. Pour the pea mixture over the hot pasta and stir to combine. Add some of the pasta water to thin it out if it's to thick. I also put some meat from a rotisserie chicken on top for a little extra oooomph, but it would be good without it too. I think it would have been good with some toasted pine nuts as well, but I didn't have any.

Welp... that's it. Fast and delicious summer dinner.

Friday Faves

Hi Friends. It's Friday (!) and here are some of my favorite things:

1. This Onesie found here. Zoey must have this.

2. This cartoon from xkcd.com. If you have ever heard me say "wobsite" or "blag", now you know why.

3. All of the baby shoes on ithinksew.com. I will make them. All of them.

4. This picture of Zak and Zoey. Cute, right?

5. And finally... That Zoey said Mamma. She only said it at first when she was mad or angry with me. But today she was just saying it because she's cute. And she loves me. And I love her.
Welp, I've got some crafting to do. Bye!
