Friday Faves

Hi Friends. It's Friday (!) and here are some of my favorite things:

1. This Onesie found here. Zoey must have this.

2. This cartoon from xkcd.com. If you have ever heard me say "wobsite" or "blag", now you know why.

3. All of the baby shoes on ithinksew.com. I will make them. All of them.

4. This picture of Zak and Zoey. Cute, right?

5. And finally... That Zoey said Mamma. She only said it at first when she was mad or angry with me. But today she was just saying it because she's cute. And she loves me. And I love her.
Welp, I've got some crafting to do. Bye!

See...

Told you I was going to post today. The past couple of days I have been making these baby slippers. I found the pattern here. I love all of the patterns, but the kimono shoes looked the easiest, so I thought I would start with those. My first attempt didn't turn out too well. I got frustrated making them and had to walk away and eventually threw them out. The next night I started fresh and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. The pattern said that it would take a beginner 1 hour. I don't know what's below beginner, because it took me about 3 hours. I'm still bad at sewing, but I'm improving. I'm going to try to make a pair a week to get better at making them. I'll keep you posted on that.

Anyways... when I was finished I decided that Zoey needed a matching onesie so I made her one. The onesie itself that I appliqued was a little small, but still cute. I tried to make a ninny holder to match too, but I tried something new and it didn't work out, so I'll try again tonight. So, here are the pics!

And they are completely reversible!

Not a Liar

I just wanted to let you know that I'm not a liar... I said I would post at least 3 times a week, and I will meet that obligation. It is only Wednesday, after all. I am working on a project that has taken me a little longer than I expected due to my lack of sewing skills, but I am finishing it tonight and will, of course, post about it tomorrow. I would have waited until I was done with said project to write a post so you could see tonight, but I need to wait till morning so I can take pictures of them on Zoey (little hint for you).

Other than that, life has been busy as usual. The only little tidbit that I can remember from the past few days is that I tried to make chili rellenos the other night for dinner. A friend gave me a bag of peppers from her CSA and I immediately knew I wanted to stuff them with cheese and fry them. I wanted it a little more hearty so I made rice and chicken to stuff inside with a ridiculous amount of cheese. I found a recipe and followed it, but they were weird and greasy. The insides and the peppers themselves were tasty, but the outsides were strange. I had never actually had one, so I had nothing to compare to. After I made them (and then confessed that I didn't know exactly what they are) my sister - who has had them before- described it like a pepper stuffed with cheese encapsulated in an omelet. I was thinking it should be deep fried like a chili popper... basically I failed. Next time I go to a Mexican restaurant, I am going to order the chili rellenos so I can examine it. Any tips or good recipes?

Come back later to peep my secret project!

Friday Faves - A Day Late

I was supposed to finish this yesterday, but when I was working on it the power went out and messed up our router...

So, I thought on Fridays, I would post some of my favorite things that I used or saw during the week. Here are my faves this week:

1. I made my big batch of baby food this week and used this handy little gadget that my mom got me. It's the Beaba baby food freezer tray. She got it here. So easy to get the frozen baby food out because it's made of flexible silicone. I would freeze a batch, unmold them, store them in ziplocks and freeze another batch. And the portions are perfect for the babe. Genius!
2. This necklace. Found here.

3. The new face Zoey makes. She sucks her top lip in and it is very cute. Have not caught in on camera yet because whenever she sees the camera she smiles. But when I do catch it, I'll be sure to post it.

4. My Pampered Chef Stoneware brownie pan. That thing makes the bestest brownies. The edges come out soooo good. I wish I had one right now.

That's all I can think of right now... Kind of tired.

A Cut Above

You like the little pun in my title? Cheesy, right? I've never been good at blog titles. Anyways... I made and finished my first cutting project! Woot! It's not perfect and I still have tons to learn about it. It's a little overwhelming, actually. I think this weekend, my cutter and I are going to spend some quality time together. Maybe even get intimate. Who knows.

The file I used to make this cute card is courtesy of my mother-in-law, Jan of Sam and Hailey Designs. She's a cutter guru. Want to confirm the truth of that statement? Visit her blog. You'll see.

So, here are some pics.

Ninny Holder

My first real post! So, in my family we have always called pacifiers ninnies. I was addicted to my ninny, until I was about 3. Then came the tragic event that changed my life. We were on family camping trip in Maine, climbing on rocks at the beach when a bird swooped down while my back was turned, took my beloved ninny and flew away (at least that's what my parents told me). So, it comes as no surprise that Zoey loves her ninny. I found a great holder for it that clips to her clothes at Target. Well, we've been through 2 now because with all of the spit-up, drool, food and what-not, they got pretty nasty. The problem? They are pretty pricey and hard to find in stores, so I decided to make one. It was easy. Took maybe 15 minutes. I might make another one today!

P.S. Don't mind the prunes on her face. She just ate!

Let's Get This Party Started

Oh heeeey... Welcome to my blog! To start this blank canvas, I thought I'd make some introductions. Sound good? Good. My name is Weezie. I'm married to my bestest friend, Zak. (Yes, we know that Zak and Weezie is the double headed dragon from the show Dragon Tales.) Together we have a beautiful baby, Zoey (don't know how we managed it, but she really is cute). Zak and I were both raised in New England, and that is where we currently reside. We love it here and plan on staying for as long as we can. I am presently working as a personal chef and being a mom at the same time. It's lots of work, but I love both cooking and being with my bebe so it's totally worth it. Below is the most current family pic we have. Zoey is about double that size now, but don't worry... you will see more recent pictures of her in posts to come.

Since this blog is mine, I will tell you a little more about me. I love crafting and creating. I just acquired a sewing machine and have been experimenting with that. I also just got a cutter last week, which I am sooooo excited about. I'm still learning how to use it, so don't ask me any questions about it yet :)

My current favorite mediums are buttons, felt and sweaters bought at Good Will. Right now I'm really into making headbands, plush monsters, scrapbook pages, and books.

Don't be surprised if you see posts on here about recipes, my favorite inventions, books, crazy adventures, funny stories or cute things other people make and/or sell (giving credit where credit is due, of course).

And, I think I will leave it at that for now. I'm hoping to post at least 3 times a week, so stay tuned!
